Hello ladies and gentlemen,
Happy New Year!
Added a Henri III 1/4 Ecu 1583 to my collection, I would like to confirm, please, if it is authentic.

From what I read it's 1583 1/4 Ecu Bayonne mint (L)
Could an experienced member confirm the authenticity please?

Te coin appears genuine IMO, but I will leave it up to our resident expert Spence to say for sure.

Thanks Echizento.
I am a collector for many years but today was the first time I have ever heard about this forum.
The coin appears to be silver (definitely not magnetic and I tested it using the ice cube method) and weights about 10 g, this seems correct (I only have a kitchen digital scale, this is why I said just "seems")
Medieval coins are not my area, but I wanted a coin from Henri III and one from Henri IV (I already have one), both in good condition. Quite happy with this one in the topic, the price was more than OK, but I want to make sure it is genuine.

It looks good to me. I have a couple of Henry III coins, though not this denomination.
You can compare to the 1583L in this search: https://wcn.pl/archive?q=Henry+1583

@erafjel also has a lot of French royal coins, and may be able to comment.

Very nice coin. Often the coins from this reign are off-round, flawed planchets, etc

Thank you.
I was looking for a Henri III coin for quite a while and it seemed pretty hard to find one in good condition AND a good price.
My goal would be now a Charles IX and perhaps a Henri of Navarre to complete the period I'm interested in, but a coin from Henri III was the main "concern".
