The 1913 Halfcrown was the scarcest date of the Type 1's of the King George V series. For the whole reign, only the 1930 is slightly more rare.   Just over 1 million were minted, yet this date never gets the dues that 1903/05 and 1930 get. This example is a decent Fine or better coin and one of my favourites. |

Great Paralyse - perhaps this may impress you, a surprise in that great collection of miscellany I picked up.   My 1913 Buffalo nickel is sharp and true, it must be at least EF. Type 2, the Indian head came out poorly, its much sharper than that! Imagine the brouhaha if someone showed a 1913 Liberty Head nickel    Edited by Princetane

Love that token! Those things are incredibly rare and much valued down under. Here is a 10 Para coin from Turkey dated 1327 -year 5 = 1913   The Turkish currency at the time was 40Para = 1 Qirsh or Kuru, 100 Kurus = 1 Lira. So this was a very low value coin! They had silver coins from 1 Kuru to 20 Kurus and gold from 25 to 500 Kurus (5 Pounds), some flattened gold coins were known as "Monnaie deluxe" and also went up to 500 Kurus. This system lasted until 1926 when the Tukish state introduced a decimal Lira based on 100 Kurus. The 40 Para was kept for a while, but was essentially worthless after the 1940s. By the 1980s the Lira had become inflated and by 2005 it was like several million Lira to a dollar and the Yeni Lirasi was introduced, now just the Lira again Post updated a few hours later due to wrong name of coins.
