I don't have a lot for 1831 but here are two Large Cents Both are Newcomb N-11, but the first is early die state (with obverse die crack but no reverse cracks) and second is mid-late die state (cracks obv/rev and big Cud on the reverse)     Member ANA - EAC - TNA - SSDC - CCT #890 "Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossible before they were done." -- Louis D. Just one coin for 1831, A French 5 Francs   1831T, darkened but in Fine condition, sadly some idiot in the past turned it into a brooch and the remains of the mount are there, solded on and Iron as rust is visible around the tails side. Because of this, it only cost me Melt value plus 10% ($18NZD back in May). One of my favs as its an authentic "Les Miserables" coin. Love all the Bust coins, but hoping to see some prime 1831 UK stuff this year - thats me until 1828, but quite a few coins for the 1820s coming up! Edited by Princetane

Interesting 5 francs, Princetane - thst's a Nantes mintmark, not seen as often as Paris, Lyon and Bordeaux! I can post some UK coins today, but I doubt if you'll consider them "prime": Farthing:  Halfpenny with large edge knock:  Sixpence - best of a bad bunch:  Here's my 1831 French 5 francs - it's got a common 'K' mintmark for Bordeaux!  |

Nice 5 francs coins, Princetane and NumisRob! France 1831, 20 francs, Louis-Philippe I. Paris (A).  The July revolution 1830 led to Louis-Philippe of the house of Orleans replacing Charles X of Bourbon on the French throne. The hereditary succession maintained by the house of Bourbon was thereby replaced by a monarch who (at least in theory) sat on the mandate of the people. This change was reflected in the king's title changing from Roi de France ("King of France") to Roi des Français ("King of the French"). The change was also a way to circumvent any remaining claims to the throne from the house of Bourbon, who "owned" the title Roi de France. |
