Back to 1954, the year my mother was born, Sadly she died 13 years ago A 1954 Halfpenny of home. Okay - looks normal, but 1954 and 1955 saw the lowest mintages of the series, only 200k were minted each year compared to 1 - 6 million other years. This coin is in aEF and is at the highest level beyond paying $200 or more for it. This coin cost me about 20 cents. You may notice the "Strapless bust" which misses a shoulder strap and has less detail than later coins.

For 1954, a pair of Proofs, a colorful business strike, and a Greek coin! 1954 - Lincoln Wheat cent. PCGS Proof 65 RD Cameo 1954 Washington quarter. PCGS Proof 66. 1954-S Washington quarter. PCGS/CAC MS65, toned. 1954 - Greece - 5 Drachmai. I have another coin that I need to redo the photos on before I can post it.

1954 United Kingdom Three Pence: The 1954 issue of British coins omitted "Britt: Omn" from the Queen's titles, as it was felt to be no longer appropriate in an era when many Commonwealth countries were asserting their independence and adopting Republican forms of government.

NumisRob - totally agree about the Omn comment. NZ caught fire in 1933 when they wanted the royal portrait not to have a Latin inscription but a English one. However as you will see - our King George V coins had a crowned bust of His Majesty like all the empire countries except Great Britain. Not the greatest shot, but the crowned bust appears on this Malaya 20 cent piece.
