That is a particularly good strike on that 1592 3 groschen, @tdziemia, very nice.

And that Transylvania thaler, wow, almost scary looking with those bear (?) claws and Sigismund nearly climbing out of the coin. Exceptional!

Just a few more days before I can join in again.

Malbork was former Prussian territory (in fact, it was where the Teutonic Knight had their fortress) ... I think they made the best designed and best struck coins of Poland in the 1590s. You can find a lot of 3 and 6 groschens on the market in AU and MS grades, though this one was part of a lot I won a few years ago.

Sadly my 1591 coin is still in the mail and probably would be for a while yet. (I have my suspicions on whether it's going to arrive at all in those quarantine times.)

My next definite entry is 1566, I believe, though I suppose in theory it's possible that I'll manage to acquire something fitting into that gap before we get there.

Good question, since we have seen juvenile (unbearded) busts of French and Spanish monarchs.
When Sigismund took the throne in 1587 he was already 21, and wore a short beard. On coins, His beard is noticeably shorter in 1588-89 than later. So, indeed, we get 44 yers to watch his beard grow
We'll see more dramatic changes in beard length with his father, over a shorter period of time.
I'll match @Keith's trojak from the Poznan mint (I think Iger P.91.3) with this Livonian one:

@tdziemia Waiting patiently for 1586 and 1588 to post 2 of my polish coins. I already replied with the 1588 coin on one of your threads 'Post Your Kingdom Of Poland Coins By Monarch', but will post it again here .
Good day!
