I've always wanted to own one of those Canadian silver dollars.

You can regularly get them for very cheap... some as low as 12 or 15 dollars in VF/XF. They could be a cool series to collect. Its also one of the only coins through Canada's history that the reverse design hasn't changed (dramatically) from KGV to KGVI to EII.

Arkie - you are jumping the gun - its still 1952 coins for the next 3 hours I found I had one more 1952 coin This is a New Caledonia 5 Francs. The size, shape and composition of it was the same as the aluminium 5 Francs of France used in the late 1940s and 1950s. It's a nice coin and when France went to the new Franc, these Oceanic colonies were left with the old one becoming the New Caledonia France, New Hebrides Franc and French Polynesian Franc. The first and last survive today and are much stronger on value (About 75 Francs to a NZ$). They still minted aluminium 5 Franc coins in 2005! They may still now, not sure if they shrunk them or got rid of them in the 2010s as most Pacific places switched to smaller and steel coins like NZ.
