My last coins for 1937 are 3 low value British ones.
Here we have a farthing, asilver Threepence and a sixpence.
1937 was a significant year as it was a change of king. Every single coin in the line up from Farthing to Crown was changed or at least modified for the new reign.
The bronze saw the Britannia effigy change to a wren on the Farthing, Drakes ship the golden hind on the Half penny and the Britannia penny had an upgrade with more Art Deco looking lettering and a more decoey looking Britannia.
The Threepence and Sixpence lost the floral look of the 1927/36 coinage and they were now a shield for the silver coin and a Cypher of letters for the Sixpence.
Added to the line up was a Brass Threepence showing a Thrift plant in flower, the Public could use either coin and it would be seen which would prevail. In 1945 it was this one and the silver Threepence was history.
Shillings also got a design upgrade with a Lion rampart looking similar to the last KGV ones on a crown, but with new lettering and a Scottish shilling was issued too.
Florins and Halfcrowns changed little with elaborate coats of arms being on the design again with modern lettering. The Florin featured a crowned Tudor rose surrounded by a Scottish Thistle and Irish clover. This replaced a faux medieval shield design.

A set of gold coins from Half Sovereign to Five Pounds was also issued a sa one off and these featured the St George design. However no gold had been issued for standard circulation since 1931/32 and would not be again until 1957.
Ironically all the new coin designs were by George Kruger Grey who also designed the last designs from 1927 and some were originally designed for Edward VIII in 1936, but a change of king saw a modification of designs.
