I sure don't. I have seen these for sale at coin shows so there must be a collector base for these. I know in order to comply with law, the replicas must say "copy" usually on the reverse. I have seen Morgans that are cast that are easy to spot as fakes.

I have read that some fakes are highly sought after, especially well known contemporary counterfeits.

The reason I ask is that I purchased one a year ago (recently found out that is counterfeit). Frustrating.

Zohar444- sorry to hear about the unfortunate situation. I imagine that if it is a contemporary counterfeit then I may have a bit of value, but if it is a modern fake, then you have a worthless paperweight.

I have a counterfeit 1909S VDB, I bought it because it was counterfeit. The seller knew that as well. I would also buy other good counterfeit coins as a novelty but they'd have to be pretty good....and a Lincoln....to gain my interest.

I suspected it early on yet looking at it again, it seems very much fake. Life goes on.

Do you remember the sellers ID on ebay? Won't really matter, ebay does not seem to care. Almost seems like they coddle these folks at times. Frustrating.

I checked he is no longer a seller on ebay so maybe there were similar complaints.

I actually sent him an e-mail yesterday (had his e-mail) stating that it was fake. No response, which I doubt will come.

I once won the bid on a beautifully rainbow toned (natural by the way), Morgan on ebay. This scamster of a seller told me he already sold that one and he forgot that it was listed on ebay. Ya right! I went around circles with this guy even to the point where he accused me of defamation of character and threatened me with law suits when this guy was the snake oil salesman not me! Just for the record, this was probably a $200 coin at the time. My winning bid was $26. See my point. By the way, ebay did nothing! He still sells on ebay.
