I was looking close for different earth varieties and noticed a couple odd things. A few letters in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA seem to be doubled, I hope my pictures show what I see easily. There seems to be a couple of split serifs as well. One dollar seems to be effected as well, along with the eagle's claws. Another oddity is on the earth, are those mounds supposed to be raised like that? I didn't know they gave the mountains that much definition.
What do you all think?

Alright, thanks guys. Since I am learning I was wondering, wouldn't the areas that are doubled be lower than the relief if it was MD? I thought this was double die because I was looking for similarities to the Canadian nickel that I found that was doubled. MD is like a step, and DD adds to doesn't it?

thanks coop, I know the earth varieties though, just focused on the doubling. I did save the images though for easy reference. Another question does pop up though, why do I have such raised mountains? They aren't scratches either I checked, are they even mountains?

On a normal die when Machine Doubling happens, it alters what ever height the die bounces.

Mid:

or top of the devices during coin exiting the machine:

On a doubled die, the outside areas most of the time are not affected, but the whole device will be enlarged and you will see a spread on the center of the devices:

Note the location of the spread on the lower image. Doubled dies will show either notching on the corners or spread with an enlargement of the devices on the center area of the devices:

Note that the outside edges are not affected, just the center area on this one showing the spread. Machine Doubling alters the outside edges of devices.

The hubs may have a different wear pattern, causing them to be listed a certain way. (I'm not a dollar guy) But there is a reason they listed only this year. So it maybe certain dies that are affected or different hubbed dies that are affecting the dies. Not sure. But just have the images prepared for Identification purposes. I don't think it is caused by Machine Doubling. But the die/hub could have been is issue. Not strike errors.
