Hello everyone. I just started collecting, so please excuse my naivete. I'm not exactly sure what to make of this quarter. I was thinking maybe the clad layers are missing. Any help, comments or advice will be most appreciated. It weighs 5.11

@kimbym, first welcome to CCF. Second, yes this is a good question. The characteristics of a clad coin spending time in an acid bath are lighter weight, rough surface, and that peculiar inset ring around the edge.
