Hi! So found this 1943S steel Lincoln Cent.pictures attached. Is it original or reprocessed and how can I be sure? Thanks for your opinions! This is the one area of cents I've never been even close to figuring out..

It's been reprocessed. All you have to do is look at the edge. It should show steel between the the zinc cladding.

One of the most commonly plated coins on Earth. I've found some plated with Chrome, Tin, Zinc, Copper. So far none with Gold plating.
One thing for sure is the original ones do not shine like that. Zinc is rather dull.
Rest in Peace

A 1943 cent with original surfaces will have surfaces with a matte finish.
There are no proof 1943 cents so one with shiny surfaces has been reprocessed.
That also means no proof-like nor cameo varieties,

Thanks for including the edge of the coin.

This one wouldn't need the image to confirm it's replated but it's always a good practice when asking about these steelies.

Once you've seen a genuine uncirculated '43 cent, you'll never confuse the two.

Thanks for the info everyone!I struggle with it because I usually either find them like this or they are corroded.

It's a good hole filler for me though.

that's an image worthy of saving, thanks for posting that, Yokozuna.

the uncirculated cent is a flatter, colder gray while the reprocessed cent is a much shinier, slightly warmer gray.

You have been given good advice here. The whole secret is in the colour. Bright, very shiny that looks as if the coin has just been spray painted with silver paint, that's how plating appears. Coop's photo above is spot on.

And/or, you can always ask us here if in doubt!
