Well based on those pictures, I would say Machine Doubling and Die Deterioration Doubling.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, I only started "really" looking at coins a couple months ago.... But I thought Die Deterioration and Machine Doubling affected both sides of the letters or numbers. This is not the case on this nickel. Only one side is affected. The best examples of this in these pictures are the "R" in liberty and the mint mark.

Like I said I'm probably wrong but think it looks similar to this 1989-s....

Well...no not exactly. Notice how the doubling looks like it's ghosting, as it is flat and not thick like the actual number/letters.

Die wear and DDD ( Die Deterioration Doubling) appears on areas of the devices that are closer to the rims. Like on the first image, it would appear on the tops of the devices on LIBERTY. Machine Doubling is most often on one side of the devices in a direction that the machine damaged the devices. On your coin, the flattened area show the MD on the left side of those devices. Note on Liberty it is stronger than the date. Why? Because the direction of the push is different because the devices curve around on the coin. How can you tell if it is Machine Doubling:
Besides being flat, shelf like, contouring is removed, here is another guide:

A doubled die will show enlarged devices, Machine Doubling will show reduced devices:

Here is a side by side of device doubling, normal and Machine Doubling reducing the sizes of the devices:

Classic Machine Doubling shows pretty much the same:

But push doubling enlarges the devices a bit. (but always reduces the devices)
