200? D Roosevelt Dime Super Weird Error. I Can't Explain

Orangejhuhyg New Member United States 14 Posts	Posted 01/16/2020 12:15 am Hi guys, so I have a little experience with error coins but I am at a loss for what this is. My friend who doesn't really collect coins found it in a coin star. I first thought it was a mule or a broad strike, but its just too different from either. Please help me identify what this is, if its even an authentic mint error in the first place. P.s. I know I am holding this coin extremely irresponsibly, but I didnt even think it was authentic at first. Report this Post to the Staff

merclover Bedrock of the Community United States 10635 Posts	Posted 01/16/2020 12:25 am This dime appears to have a bronze or copper bezel around it, as if it was to be made into a piece of jewelry. Why this date/this dime? Who knows. It is not a mint error, but post mint, someone has added a metal band around this coin. to the CCF! Skippy72 Valued Member United States 447 Posts	Posted 01/16/2020 01:02 am Please, please do not take my opinion on this coin as negative or demeaning anybody's knowledge of coins by any means because I respect all from those with 1 post on up to those with 10,000 posts. I respect all. But....it seems like the term " Dryer Coin" is used quite a bit when it seems there is just no logical answer. And I've seen A LOT of variations and types of Dryer Coin like images. I have a few myself and each of them are far from any two alike. Could there be more going on with these coins? I myself, have no explanation but maybe there could be, for the good of coin collecting, going on here. Example...I recently posted a 1953 nickel that is a gun metal blue/black in color and one comment was made that there aren't any of the "Black Beauty" type in that year. My answer to that, not saying the coin is a Black Beauty, there is a possibility of new discoveries everyday. So again, not being disrespectable to anyone, could there be more going on, uniquely, with these coins? Thanks everyone.... Report this Post to the Staff
