Wrong planchets arent my thing, but I didn't know what else to call this. this quarter is the same size if not a tiny bit larger in diameter than a regular quarter, the thickness is almost twice that of a regular quarter & the outer rim is almost completely smooth with the exception of some very minor ridge lines showing. all that led me to believe it must have left the mint like this because I dont see how someone could have so uniformly press the edges like this. then the fact that it was originally bigger & then compressed down to this size. thats what lead me to believe it must have been done at the Mint. but I do have a history of being completely wrong about these things lol oh & the picture of the log cabin I posted cause something looks off about it, what ever that something is I'm still trying to find out

To me, it looks like the correct planchet, but someone has sanded down part the reeded edge and/or it was almost a Dryer Coin. It's worth 25 cents.

What about the fact that it's still larger than a regular quarter how do you sand something down and make it bigger

And it's not sanded it's pressed from all directions simultaneously you can tell it if you had in your hand

Me saying "sanding" was wrong, but the Dryer Coin would account for it being thicker on the edge.

Looks like early stage Dryer Coin. Exact weight and diameter would be useful.

Yes the weight would help if I had a way to weight it but I don't have a set of digital scales Handy or any kind of scales for that matter. but ive already planned around that. I'll get the weight and everything in a little bit after I run to the post office LOL obviously I'm green to all this so I am not familiar with the " Dryer Coin" term. guess I'm gonna have to Bing it. All I know is that it's uniformly pressed from all sides there's no indentions where something had stopped, started over & repeated that process. it's just one continuous smooth surface with no beginning or end. Either way I'll get the dimensions later I'm gonna finish my coffee & let the dog take me for a walk to the post office where I know a guy that has a set of digital scales LOL

Although I have never seen one on a quarter, maybe someone has tried to make a
"Texas Coin" out of it and ground the edges. That would account for the larger diameter

I can totally see that now. but I don't know I've done a lot of laundry in my life I've never had a coin come out like this. either way it's just one of those things, no big deal just my curiosity at work. But the whole Dryer Coin thing is pretty interesting I'm going to have to read up on I'm going to have to read up more on that

If it is a Dryer Coin, the diameter would be smaller.
You stated the diameter was bigger. Please check the diameters again.

See that's what I thought too but I don't know that's why I'm asking all you guys but the diameter is the same exact size if not a little bit bigger than most quarters. the diameter is 7/8ths of an inch or 2.4cm all the way around. And that's right at what all the other quarters in front of me or measuring out at

It appears to have the Dryer Coin effect on the reverse, and the obverse edge has the affect of spooning out.
The second last photo has the question coin appear taller, while the last photo shorter.

My theory is that its a Dryer Coin with the obverse area possibly filed outward.
