Please help identify.
I'm new to the forum, but excited and thankful to be here!
I dug this in a location rich with historical significance.
Any information will be much appreciated!
Presidential medal?
Campaign token of some sort?

I apologize for posting this in two different topics.
I'm 100 percent new to the forum and after reading further, realized I shouldn't have posted twice.
Won't happen again.
Thanks

Many, early political campaign pieces were holed; some neatly, some crudely. I've not before seen one akin to that of our OP's piece. I'm curious to see the flip-side.

Thank you for your replies.
Here is a pick of the reverse.
It had some wear/grime build up..
But I didn't want to clean it, until I
Know what I'm working with.

I think it's more "part" of a button, ribbon or badge and the reverse images, being in reverse of what shows on the front tell me that it is probably a very thin metal item. It may have been mounted on another larger piece or one the same size. I think the hole was added after they two halves were separated.

@TNG .... While I've seen a number of tokens struck this way, the button possibility is a good one, methinks.

Oh, I'm not putting it down Exo. ( I wouldn't do that anyway )
I think it's pretty neat but don't think it is complete.

Thanks to all for taking the time to give me your feedback.
Yes it does seem as tho it's a piece (of a piece)...
It's of very thin metal, and the image is only on the obverse.
The detail really intrigues me.
Dang....too bad its probably not a piece medal #128526;
