And the mods might move it to the British subforum to get the right eyes on it. I don't know this type at all, but one thing I notice when I search in CoinArchives or Numista is that I didn't see any other examples with empty fields around the cross reverse. Edit: There is also something going on left of the crown & thistle that breaks up the M, and makes the beaded circle mis-aligned, but I've seen stuff like this on other hammered coins of this era. tdziemia Pillar of the Community United States 7944 Posts	Posted 01/21/2020 5:47 pm This search brought up examples of bawbees of both both James and Mary that have sold recently: https://www.coinarchives.com/w/resu...&results=100 The obverse legend on yours, ending in REGINA SCOTORV makes it like Spink 5432, but this type should have two cinquefoils either side of the cross. The description is "Crowned thistle dividing MR" and "Plain saltire cross through crown, cinquefoil each side, OPPIDVM EDINBVRGI". A subtype with a voided cross is #5433, but that is not what you have. I agree that your coin does not have these six-sided stars on either side of the crown and I'm not sure what to make of this omission. tdziemia Pillar of the Community United States 7944 Posts	Posted 01/22/2020 8:26 pm I think that's consistent with the CoinArchives link that shows an S5432 graded by the seller (Noble) at Good Fine selling at $85 (120 AUD), and another graded "toned VF" (V auctions) selling at $215 US. I'd put this example somewhere between on grade. Not sure what the slab says... Probably VF? Report this Post to the Staff
