Bought several British gold sovereigns from a major bullion dealer under the random category. One of them appears to possibly be a proof. Here are pics, along with a BU example for comparison.

The proofs should have a cameo appearance
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Ok. Are all the later date bu sovereigns proof like?

I believe all modern uncirculated sovereigns get produced with a brilliant finish, unlike the older circulating sovereigns.
