This is a 1918 Lincoln that appears to be minted on the wrong planchette. It is silver under the copper coating and is 3.22 grams. I am not sure of which planchette it is. It does not stick to a magnet. I bought 5 rolls of coins wrapped in the 50's by Bank of America and that is where I found the coin. Any ideas of what it is, any help would be appreciated.

It's on the right planchet but it looks very strange and glossy. My guess is that it's been cleaned with baking soda.

No, the coin its self is a slick silver finish and that is why the copper coating is coming off I am thinking.

I'm guessing mercury (from a thermometer?)or glossy silver paint on the coin.

It looks like it is wearing off the high points of the design.

Sorry I didn't know it had a silver finish. I agree some sort of paint or something else. Either was Post Mint Damage.

Yes I agree with @sel that having the weight would be useful.

Agree, likely plated or painted, with this now wearing off.

That is indeed within mint tolerance of a pre-1982 cent.

Again, plated or painted.

Here is a close up. The coin is an original silver finish under the copper. Taking it to a local coin shop tomorrow.

Looks like it's the other way around, the silver finish/ paint is wearing off showing the original copper underneath. PMD.

No point taking it to a coin shop, it's only worth 1 cent. Not an error, don't waste your time with taking it in.

Yours is not the only 1918 like this. I have one very similar. When I get home I'll post pics.
