It is unfortunately MD. The devices are reduced in size and there are no splits in the serifs.

Man I need to do some more research, I have no idea what MD or serifs are. Thank you for the feedback though!

Thank you both very much for the links! Looks like I have some reading to do!

I'm near convinced this is a double dye after looking at it more though, so I snapped another photo, just in case!

Just Machine Doubling. Note the affected area reduces the size of the date digits:
1969-S-Penny-Double-Die-On-Dates!?!
Note the real deal and compare to your coin.

Definitely not a doubled "die" (not dye). The numbers are smaller and the doubling is shelflike. Also, the S looks doubled too, which wouldn't happen if it were a true DDO.
