Recent purchase and was debating on getting it sent off for grading. I welcome all grading opinions.

Thanks in advance!

64'ish. Hairlines on the right side of the star hurt it. Not sure of the luster but probably dipped one time (most of these have been over the years).

Value is around 100 to 120 wholesale and around 150 retail.

I'll go MS65
Wonder if that is a hit on her nose, doesn't look right. Austin and Houston are pretty sharp. Nice strike and beautiful coin. Congrats.

HP....

I like these Texas halves A LOT!

Back in the early 80's I put a hoard of about 150 of them together. It was a fun project at the time. I sold a lot of them in 1986 during the 150th anniversary celebration. I kept all of the 1938's.

Here lately I've started buying them again and just recently added a set of PCGS 36's and a PCGS set of 38's..... both sets in 65.

If you are patient you can find slabbed coins for what a lot of dealers are charging for raw coins. There is no shortage of them.

It is a wonderful coin with a very "busy" design. Enjoy the ride!

There is obviously no wear, so some sort of MS grade.
With the surface texture of the metal surface with these,
very difficult to look for tiny nicks and scratches with on screen pictures.

I am not surprised that a range of mid to high MS grade opinions will result.
Considering the OP's post,
I will say
MS-66.

Because I have other areas of numismatics that drag me away from U.S. commemoratives, I will never get to own one of these in this sort of grade, despite the fact that I have a few in lower MS grades.

So I will just envy.

I think it merits 66 as well. Beautiful example.

I've been attacked on these forums before when disagreeing with the general consensus.
