Hi everyone. I'm a newbie here and to coins. Was sorting/rolling some loose coins and found this 1977 D penny that is unusual in color. Looks very new bronze/dark chocolate brown unlike the pre-82s that are lighter and it's uniformly colored not splotchy. Also has the blue rainbow effect across the top on the obverse side. Also seems to have a stronger strike, especially on the reverse, unless it's the color playing tricks on my eyes.
@milci, first welcome to CCF. Second, yes I agree that environmental exposure most likely has caused the different coloration on what otherwise are similar cents.

To CCF , By the way you should not get into the habit of holding your coins with your fingers like that , you can leave finger prints on them and the oils from your fingers can ruin brilliant uncirculated Lincolns .
