The first coin is showing Ridge Ring: These are from zinc cents from the single squeeze dies. Very common on 1980's Zincolns.
The 1981 is showing rolling lines of the stock material on the copper planchet cents. Not to be confused with woody cents: The rolling lines wear off the coins in circulation. The woody cents are from a poor mixture of copper/zinc on the 95 copper planchets. The difference is that the coin wear, does not remove the woody look. The rindge rings do wear off in circulation.
