Yes they do fit together. Note Coin #1 and Coin #2. The fellow that had them graded said he spent $200 to do so. They are a unique conversation piece for sure!

My next Error to get graded will be my MS63+/64 1921 Cracked Planchet Peace dollar.

I wouldn't have paid $200 to get them graded but I think it was more of the fact of certifying they are a matched pair in MS condition for their age. Almost every split planchet coin I have seen and own only have one half and most are very worn, which makes me think these are quite unique.

Since getting them certified the pair has sold three times prior to my obtaining them between $900 - $1200. I got them through trading silver along with a few other coins before things began to tank in the silver market.

Matter of fact, three weeks ago the fellow that I received them from called me and said there is a Error collector in California that contacted him to see if he still had the coins and is willing to pay $1000 for the pair. So based on that, I don't think it was too desparate of a move to get them graded. Guess it depends on your niche and like they say things are only worth what people are willing to pay for them, right?

I don't think people would be willing to pay that much for the uncertified "hey watch me put them together and show you they are from the same coins" in 2 x 2s.

Too bad these slabs don't somehow interlock for the full effect.
But at least both slabs match on the grade. Cool pair!

Have you checked the mint mark for a D over D? Nice set! Did you get this in a sealed mint bag or bank wrapped roll? Certainly would be impossible to find any other way, wouldn't it?

I wonder why he paid $200 when PCGS would have done it for $80?
