I found this 1972 D Roosevelt. I am still wet behind the ears, and just wanted to know if I've got something here. I put new and better formatted pics. Edited by Jayhawk143 02/04/2020 8:13 pm

Welcome to the forum. I'm going to guess your question has to do with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST or the date since that seems to be the focus of a couple of the images. The images are a little small for me to see much and don't enlarge when clicking on them but it looks like your coin has been Struck Through Grease by a die that had grease filling part of the die on the E of WE.

While the 'WE' looks like it is falling off the edge of the coin. That is just the part of the Struck Through Grease adding to this illusion.

Thank You for the warm welcomes. I appreciate the info. Do you think it is worth sending in for grade?

Why spend $50 on a 10 cent coin? It doesn't make sense to me?

So.. the error isn't significant enough to have value beyond the face value?

Well it is not an error. It is common. When the devices disappear a lot, then there is intrest in a Grease Fill die coin. 80-90% is a more striking example: Even then $10 is probably max for an extreme one. It would cost more to have it graded than you would ever get back. Figure $15-50 dollars to have it graded. You would have a coin that cost you more than you can sell it for. What extra does a buyer pay for a graded coin? $0.00 The TPG (Third-Party-Graders) are the ones who make all the money.
