All right, so I got another package of coins in the mail yesterday, and in it I found what appears to be a gold coin. Didn't see it when bidding or it probably would have gone for much more. There was also a lot of silver (Foreign) and and a few American coins. Coronet head penny's, 3 cent nickel and Barber dime. Nice little haul the paid for the WHOLE LOT.
Any-who, back to the coin in question.
Wt: 4.81gm dia: 21mm
Now the image does match up the Firenze {several} (Italian States) coin Biaggi# 787, but the weight is way off (3.07 vs. 4.81)
Could it be fake? sure hope not

Low weight on a gold coin is a bad sign.....

It purports to be a Florin D'or from Florence, italy (medieval):

According to the website, fakes abound. Yours unfortunately looks fake to me, likely a brass fake. The real one should weigh about 3.5 grams.

Agree it is not an authentic florin. https://www.coinarchives.com/w/resu...&results=100

Likely made on a thick planchet of base metal, hence overweight.
