That is in fact a Spanish 2 Reales from 1724. These are not incredibly rare since they had a rather high mintage. The hole does decrease the value and the overall grade of the coin. I would say that in this condition it is worth about 10 pounds.

Thank you for your opinion Archraz.
I have my question - do you know what meaning have capital letters ''S'' and ''J''.
And the holes in the coin were useful for people to carry as a neacklace.
It says on the website.

Once again thank you.

Kind Regards
Mitch

G'day,
if I recall correctly, the letters "S.J." are the initials of the assayer, or perhaps the mint-master.
If you google "Spanish Dollar", you'll get plenty of lines of reading.
The two-reales was one-quarter of the Spanish Dollar.

The R stands for "reales", the S stands for the mint "Seville", and the "J" is the assayers initial. So you have (as correctly identified by Archraz) a Spanish 2 reale minted in Seville with the assayer initial "J". KM#307 if you care to look it up in a Krause/Mishler reference book.
