Just a neat old Eagle. 1858 Small Letters.
Die crack from U in UNITED intersects top of the eagle's neck midway.
Retained Cud or die break from just above wing tip all the way down to in between the RI in AMERICA. Reverse die is rotated about 10 degrees C/W as seen from coin orientation view.
Cuds on Coins lists it as RCD-1c-1858-02 -- on Mr. Weinberg's plate coin you can see the LH obverse die crack a bit better than on this example. They list it as a "retained
Cud." I use the term "retained die break" instead, but to each their own.
This is an original coin in a straight grade old white ANACS holder. I'll get better pictures when I have it in hand.
