Hey there I'm Jeff from Alabama, new to coin collecting and was wondering if anyone could give some info on this 1972 Lincoln Penny
New-To-The-Coin-Game---1972-LMC-DDO?
Seems all lettering in doubled die with the "L" being much smaller than the others.
Well thanks in advance for any info

At first glance, I would lean to, yes it is a DDO. However as I study the cent more it's got me thinking Machine Doubling. Conclusion? We would need clearer and closer photos of the date and liberty to give a true answer.... ..... to CCF

Your coin appears to be an EXTREMELY WORN

1972P-1-DO-001. (IMHO).

Looks like a worn example of DDO-001. Very nice find!

Hello Jeffa87 and to the CCF!

Super excellent find. In better shape, this variety is amazing.
Did you find this out in the wild? Or did you find this coin roll hunting (CRH)?

Looks like DDO-001 on Variety Vista website http://www.varietyvista.com/01b%20L...2PDDO001.htm

Wow, can't believe these can still be found in circulation! I had been curious if people still found any major older varieties like this coin roll hunting, so I did a search on the forum. Incredible find! I can't believe this thread didn't get more attention - this seems almost unheard of these days.

If the reverse is centered then the 1972-D is a MAD=misaligned die.

I hate to be a "doubting Thomas" but something seems odd about the strike on this coin. Very weak and there appear to be two die scratches under the chin that don't appear as markers on VV. VV also indicates this die pair has only been found in EDS.
The weak strike could be an indication of a cast coin.
A close up of TRUST and the reverse would be a big help.
Hope I'm wrong.
