I've got knee replacement surgery in two weeks so I'm taking my dad to the MidAmerica coin show in Tinley Park Illinois tomorrow. Should be fun for both of us. I'll be looking for some coins to keep me busy while I'm laid up so hopefully tomorrow's trip will be fruitful. Dad and I haven't gone in a while so we're both pretty excited. Should make for a fun day.

Keep us updated and post a few pics of you two enjoying the show. Say hi to your dad and good luck with your new knees.

Quality time with dad is more important than coins.
At the show, see if you can buy a good second hand coin book to keep your mind numismatically stimulated when you are there by yourself, and dad isn't there with you, as you are recovering from surgery.

Also, spend lots more time posting here in the CCF, during your recovery. Post a few pics of some coins the you may acquire. Perhaps we may be able to offer grading opinions for those you post.

Thanks everyone. Will certainly do my best... My dad is nearing 88. Has difficulty hearing and getting a little forgetful. I cherish every minute with him.. He got me into the hobby so this is great therapy for him and will be wonderful memories for me...

Hopefully that show is great. I didn't know there was one there. There was also a coin show, same day, in a place called Countryside which is just North of Tinley Park.

Someone I know told me that the Tinley Park show was for 3 days followed by the Countryside show. All were supposed to be fairly big.

I used to take my Dad to coin shows with me. Some of the best times we ever had were going to shows. He has been gone almost 13 years now. I miss him every day!

Enjoy the moment!
