High grades are worth looking for, basically some collectors are seeking "The Perfect Coin", flawless as they can find, if that makes more sense. The third party grading services have population reports you can look at, those high grades aren't always very common, and some years/mintmarks don't have very high graded coins available due to circumstances such as mishandled planchets, coin strikes were poor, dies were lesser quality, etc. Many many factors come into play. Save all of the coins you think are in near perfect condition. I recommend comparing them to photos of graded coins, and read some literature on coin grading.
