Hi all,

I get a little discouraged in US coin hunting (which is why I spend most of my time in world). I go to show after show and the best Morgan I see is a common 62 or 63 at best. Do people still find raw coins that hit even 65 when graded?

What's your best in recent years?

There are still raw 65's,66's and even 67's. As someone who works at a coin store I can say this with strong confidence. Though, the choicer 66's and few 67's usually come from collections that were passed down through multiple generations. We had one gentleman who sold his collection that started with his great-grandfather. There were some VERY rare coins in there, lots of very high grade stuff. Including, but not limited to a BU roll of '09-S VDB, an 1895 Morgan (PF-58), and a PF63 1856 flying eagle just to name a few. May I add these were all raw, and just were passed down.
