I'm back :) been sick, but on the mend. Ok, so I picked this one up for just over melt price on an auction, don't have the coin in hand yet, sellers pictures. Fresh out of vouchers.

Looks to be a bit like MPL, certainly seems to be a sharp strike from new dies. Patina maybe? hiding some tiny nicks and scratches that I can't see here. Stands a reasonable chance of being over $100 in potential value, which is my rule of thumb to consider if the grading and shipping can be justified. Biggest thing for me is that it a nice cherry pick, if you bought it for just over melt !

I never was a Morgan dollar man but that is definitely worth more than melt . Real nice strike .

Nice buy, but not worth grading. Enjoy.

I've got it at AU-58 (~$50). Nowhere near what I consider the value for submitting for grading ($150-200).

average strike for this year. AU58. I think the luster is a little lacking. common date. $30-35 retail. don't send it in. maybe there's more luster than the photos are showing but it still isn't going to be MS

Great pickup! It might be 1885-O VAM 12. I'm at AU-58, too. The surfaces look better than a lot of AU Morgans. I agree, it isn't worth paying for a slab, but it should sell quickly for $25-ish above what you paid. That's a great cherrypick any day.

Well, I got it, and it had alot of debris on it, so I gave her ye ole acetone bath. Best pictures I could get, I dunno if these shots make any difference. Change anyone's thoughts? In the top left corner there is the slightest of rim damage that the sellers pictures masked rather well :) Think I might toss this one back to ebay with the seller's pictures lol
