I know there have been a few of these found by members! Not the 1956-D specifically, but the close mint marks.

Coppercoins said in a recent post:

Quote:
Mintmark placement seemed to be all over the place during the 1950s. They seemed to have cleaned it up rather well during the 1960s and were doing well until 1988 when they went all over the place again.

Very little collector interest in placement alone, so they have very little if any extra value.

Thank you for posting...a little laughter brightened my day otherwise spoiled by stomach flu.
These lines did it for me:

Quote:
It is one of TWO known 1956 Contiguous Mintmark Lincoln cents...
Questions have been received claiming that alleged owners also have this rarity. Their false claims of ownership are all bogus.
I guess he doesn't like people disproving his claim. It's a large mintage, with quite a few dies. He would be an interesting fellow to join this forum...(maybe) it would do him some good.

I'm going to try him out. Will report back!

Actually, someone else also try. Or better, all of us try and let's he his response to each of us.

"THERE ARE ONLY TWO 1956 CONTIGUOUS MINTMARK EXTANT, AND I OWN BOTH OF THEM." Is his latest update. Do you think he really believes himself?

That buyer says he is willing to buy, so you might as well sell to him!
Offer one to him for $25,000, give him the chance make 100% from his markup :)

The Q&A are very entertaining. LOL. I should sell mine for the low, low price of just $1000 each.
