Here goes. I found this 1981 quarter that looks odd it looks like it was carefully grinded around the edge on the eagle side.. The pictures dont look that great but I will try to look end take a picture of it on a microscope. Thanx in advance

Looks like the highest points, eagles breast and raised rim areas got evenly scraped. Looks post mint damaged to me.

@wia, first welcome to CCF. Second, while I agree with what @zimmy and the frog have concluded, it is true that you don't have to. You have asked for our opinions and we are providing them. Consider spending some time looking at old threads here on CCF to get a better feel for what is a mint error and what is damage.

With regard to the circumferential scratch on the obverse, this might be due to a Coin Wrapping Machine but also is not something that was there when this quarter left the mint.

100% correct I did ask for opinions. Although I dont disagree with the opinions that where given. I simply asked on how that effect could be accomplished. Was it grinded, sanded? It wasnt ment to offend in any way. I'm just asking questions. No more no less

Ok sorry I misunderstood your tone then. We are all good.

I'm not seeing any parallel marks along the edge, but this wear could be from purposeful filing, grinding, or even sliding along sandpaper.

I hought about the dremel but the lack of scratches onthe quarter makes it almost impossible that it was done with dremel. I need to go and use my friends microscope. See what I see. Thanx for replying with your opinions..
