1981 Possible Error. What Do U Guys Think

Will-I-Am New Member United States 4 Posts	Posted 02/23/2020 08:59 am Here goes. I found this 1981 quarter that looks odd it looks like it was carefully grinded around the edge on the eagle side.. Second, while I agree with what @zimmy and the frog have concluded, it is true that you don't have to. You have asked for our opinions and we are providing them. Consider spending some time looking at old threads here on CCF to get a better feel for what is a mint error and what is damage. With regard to the circumferential scratch on the obverse, this might be due to a Coin Wrapping Machine but also is not something that was there when this quarter left the mint. I'm not seeing any parallel marks along the edge, but this wear could be from purposeful filing, grinding, or even sliding along sandpaper. Will-I-Am New Member United States 4 Posts	Posted 02/23/2020 3:42 pm I hought about the dremel but the lack of scratches onthe quarter makes it almost impossible that it was done with dremel.
