Can anyone tell me if this is an error coin and what gives it this beautiful red tone! Haven't seen anything like this one online!

@mc, that is a very nice color, but at least with these pics, I'm only seeing circulation wear. What design elements seem doubled with this coin in hand?

Not nearly as knowledgeable as the experts here, but have had over 10K pennies under the microscope in the last month or so. I see no doubling whatsoever, DDO, DDR, RPM, or even MD. My 1940s LWC (5000+) collection contains a lot of these "rusty" looking red coins. Pretty sure it is a sulfide or oxide, but definitely some form of corrosion. The colors don't come out right in any photograph I take, so I assume yours is also not a true representation. My assumption is that it is caused by exposure to some substance that maybe someone with metallurgical knowledge could identify?

Just my 2 cents :)

Cheers!

A well-circulated 1963 D (wear and dings), with some environmentally-caused issues. From what I've seen over a few decades of collecting and roll searching, it's not much different than many, many other circulated coins of the era.

Given the photos posted, I'm not seeing any evidence of a doubled die.
