I would love some help sight-grading this lightly toned 1938 D/D Buffalo nickel. It looks like a really good strike, with good eye appeal. A couple of nicks. Want to see if I should have it professionally graded. Thanks!

Looks like a D/D/S to me!

Maybe 66, possibly 67. Worth getting graded as long as the variety is correct.

Nice coin!

The lighting makes it very difficult to determine if there's any light wear.
Could be high AU or MS.

Can we get a close up of the mint Mark? It will be tough to identify the variety without one.

Thanks for all of the input! I tried getting a close up of the mint mark but am having trouble getting a clear enough image. Can see clear "D" offset to the left and under the mint mark with my loupe.
As to a grade, I was thinking MS66-67 so thanks for the validation.
Will try to get a close up of the mint mark uploaded.

Cheers!

I can see a diagonal bar running nw to se in the center of the "D" mint mark ..... that tells me it may by one of the many D over S mint mark varieties!

Doesn't look like any OMM that I know but It's tough to match off of the picture.Take a look at OMMs here:

RPMs here :

http://varietyvista.com/03%20Buffal...201938-D.htm

If you can capture a picture with better lighting, maybe it will be easier to tell if it is MD? Maybe you can match it in hand? Good luck!
