I was wondering why there is such a diff in the colors of these Lincoln cents. I'm stumped on where to find the info on it.

All it comes down to is environmental toning.

I would chalk it up to environmental exposure on the darker, less shiny one.

In these examples, the lower one has toned naturally due to circulation. The top one is essentially the color it was when minted.

Coins experience varying degrees of exposure to the environment. One may spend 40+ years in the back of a sock drawer, another may pass from cash registers, to pockets, to cash registers, to car trunk across those very same years.

Environmental tarnishing on the darker one. Environmental protection on the brighter one shown.

Wheat Cents are 95% Copper . Copper has the tendency to form many different colors because of the environment they were subject to. Right off the mint presses they are bright and shiny orange in color which we call Red . Put them in circulation for 25 years and they turn Brown . There are many other environmental issues that can turn their looks every color imaginable .
