Found a 1952 D penny with error under the 9 and mint mark. I didn't think much about it until I found another with the same error. Can you tell me your opinions ? Thank you.

Circulation damage and extreme die wear (which was common on the 1950's wheat cents) has taken it toll on these coins. Just wheat cents now.

Yes the coin does suffer from damage, however bottom of the 9 and top of the mint mark is affected with a die chip..called the winged D (similar to Variety Vista 52D RPM-023) check it out, I have the same die cent as yours, but without the damage

I also have the same coin. Unfortunately mine has a lot of damage as well. I had set it aside and like you didn't think much of it until I saw your post. Wouldn't it still be a mint issue if there are more than just 1 with the same "damage"?

That was a die crack, now with some circulation flattening.

1952-D and 1952-S have a number of die cracks/chips around the date and mint mark. Some are strong enough to be listed on cuds-on-coins.com. Not rare, but yes they are a real thing not just coin damage. One of them is call the "San Juan" coin because the die chip looks like a J after the S mint mark making "SJ".
