I have got to thinking and it might be important to fans of the issues from the Medallic Art Co. to be aware of the possibility or re-issues.
If you have any medals that are packaged like the one in question, please look at the edge of the medal for us. What does it say?

While looking for a duplicate Mt. Rushmore - Black Elk Bronze medal for my collection I discovered that there may be more recent items available enclosed in plastic and "on card".
Note that the one "on card" shown here is "lacquered finish" and the address at the bottom is Medallic Art Company LTD. 80 Airpark Vista Blvd. Dayton NV 89403, making this package to be made after 1997.
The medals may be struck with the orignal dies or these could be unsold stock from many years ago. I do not know.

Henry Weil, French sculptor living in New York City, founded the Medallic Art Company in 1903.
The Medallic Art Company was originally located in New York and moved to Danbury, Connecticut in 1972,
Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1991 then to Dayton, Nevada in 1997 where it currently operates in a 115,000-square-foot facility.

These originally came in small cardboard boxes like many Medallic Art medals did.
Information was stamped on the inside of the lid showing this.

This medal was one of 36 in a series of National Park medals of which I have a few of including my original.
My medal has Medallic Art Co. Danbury CT. Bronze stamped incuse, on the edge.

The National Parks Centennial Medal Series was produced for the 1972 National Parks Centennial Year, under contract from The National Park Foundation by National Park Service Medalists, Roche Jaune, Inc., of Kalispell, Montana. Original designs and sculpture by Frank Hagel, prominent Western artist, of Kalispell.
Total series was struck by the Medallic Art Company of New York City.

There have been re-strikes in bronze from the original dies since the original strikes in 1972. I have several in the National Park series stamped "MACO Bronze" and preceded by the copyright symbol and "2016" or "2017". They are high relief and identical in every way. Medallic Art was acquired by Northwest Territorial Mint in 2009, but the latter went bankrupt in 2017. Medallic Art's inventory and other assets were acquired by various parties in the bankruptcy proceedings. For multiple reasons (expense and expertise to produce, customer demand at profitable price point), I'm skeptical there will be any future bronze re-strikes. The silver issues were sold by subscription and described to prospective customers in 1972 (I've seen the old ads) as limited to 15,000, and I've read they only sold about 3,000, so I'm even more sure there will never be any silver re-strikes. The National Park Service issued a contract to Roche Jaune in 1971 to produce the series, so there are likely contractual reasons prohibiting new silver issues also.

Have added a few medals to my collection ( e.g., ARBA medals in Silver & Bronze ) which led to my awareness of the Medallic Art Co's
"Society of Medalist" series produced by MACO from 1930 - 1980, a fascinating sidebar to browse and research.

Good to know the background presented in this thread. Much appreciated.

Most / many of the dies have ended up at the ANS.

Green Bay, WI, based Medalcraft Mint, Inc, was the 2018 purchaser of MACO and Northwest Territorial Mint.

Medalcraft has produced Presidential Inaugural Medallions for the last four POTUS.
