For how many years a good quality coin holder (leuchtturm, for exemple) can be used to store coins without damaging them?

I looked through a 2 by 2 at the LCS that was about 20 years old. The staples rusted but the coin looked fine.

In my experience, simple Mylar 2X2 holders last almost indefinitely.

In simple terms, we don't know how long a 2x2 will last under normal circumstances, because not enough time has elapsed since the invention of 2x2s, only about 60 years ago. So the answer is "at least 60 years". I own a couple of coins that have been sitting in the same 2x2s since the 1960s. As HFJ noted, the staples will rust to pieces and fail before the plastic disintegrates, and the staples can simply be replaced with fresh staples.

It also depends on the environment the holders are exposed to - exposure to full sunlight will degrade it rapidly. A Mylar balloon sitting in full sunlight can last anywhere from 6 months to 4 years.

The hard plastic slabs used by the TPGs to preserve coins are rated for several centuries.

In terms of long-term storage, it isn't the degradation of the holders that is the issue - it is the environment thatt he holders are kept in. No holder is 100% airtight, and anything that lets in air can result in damage to a coin in the long-term.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Not sure of why your asking that question . I'm in the hobby now about 58 years and I've never seen or heard of a holder be it cardboard or plastic fall apart or disintegrate over years of use .

Thanks for the answers. I'm new to numismatics and recently, talking to a more experienced collector, he told me that holders
must be changed every 5 years. I thought it was strange so here I am

There are coins out there in collections that have been in paper envelopes for over 150 years.

Yes they should be changed every 5 years but only due to sending me the coins in them. Then I'll put them aside for about 100 years.
Are you sure that the person that told you that collected coins?

If it's in a TPGS hard plastic slab. About two minutes once I get my hammer.

Are you sure the guy you were talking to wasn't just a supply seller?

What he probably meant is the grades are getting easier so if you get them reslabbed every 5 years eventually all coins will be MS 70
