I don't believe this is a die, but must be part of the die making process. Looking for info and what value it may have.
Thank you

to me it looks like someone may have pressed the coin into some type of material to get this backward design

The goose seems to be upside down depending on which way you look at it, is this a soft material ?

It's too soft to be a die but the design is reversed like a die would be for striking.

could just be a chunk of lead , that someone pressed a silver dollar into, leaving a reverse of the image.

Perhaps for nefarious reasons, like a double struck dollar.. There is probably a mate for it, with the obverse on it..

Is the image actual size, your last photo makes it appear to be larger than an actual dollar, it should be 36 mm, across.

A 67 dollar fits just right, in the piece.

Could be a mold or half a mold for making trinkets.

Cheers, Bill

The rim tells me that a struck coin was pressed into that material. The rim is formed by the collar die, and is not on any die, punch or matrix I have ever seen.

Cool as a conversation piece though...

It's not a die.
Canadian dies are similar to this.

Note the step that forms the rim.
