I have never seen this before and I'm wondering if it is a common error? The wheat stalks and lettering are well defined compared to most of my wheat pennies.

That extra stalk looks recessed, and just looks like PMD.

Took a hit from another coin and it left the lines from it wheat stalk on your coin. Just damage. It is not from the die. How do we know. Well it is incuse. (transferred from another coin) Also if it were from the die, these lines would be raised and showing the same design all across the coin. So it is not a die issue, just damage from another coin.

Thank you, I Iooked at this again under my scope and it does appear as you say, an imprint from another wheat coin rather than a die.
