I suspect the actual date is quite recent, probably 20th century (though I don't really know). The "Ming" in the legend apparently refers to a concubine of one of the Ming emperors, remembered by the Chinese as a woman of great beauty, like Helen of Troy in Western culture.
The more I find about out about this and similar pieces makes me fairly confident this is a modern reproduction. Still an interesting piece for the history it represents...
