Hello! I'm new to coin collecting and I am having a great time! I'm not in this for the money per se, but if I find something valuable or rare that would be a great...

I found this penny today... any insight from the pros is appreciated! My question is how rare are finds like this and does it have any value? Thanks in advance!

What you've got are the Zinc rots working their way up to the surface, good for conversation piece, otherwise it is a spender.

to the CCF!

Ewww! It's Zinc Rot! The copper layer has bubbles from the zinc layer breaking down underneath. It's a common form of damage and doesn't have any value.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

It is terrible! Modern U.S. one cent coins are made cheaply to save money, and this is the inevitable result because of how they are made, unless they are carefully kept from the moment they are issued.

You will find few fans of the copper coated one cent coins.

Haha... Not sure if anyone has seen the movie Joe Dirt but I kink of feel like him carrying that "meteorite" around in his wagon, only to find out it was, well, not that.
