I was reading that John Sinnock initialed each one. Does anyone happen to know where on the coins or if each one was completely random?

Never heard of that and frankly it doesn't make any sense to do so.

From Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_R._Sinnock
"Sinnock was the designer of the Roosevelt dime and Franklin half dollar, among other U.S. coins. His initials can be found at the base of the Roosevelt and Franklin busts. He also sculpted, although did not design, the Purple Heart medal, the Yangtze Service Medal, and various other medals and commemorative coins. "

I think the answer is above. His initials are on the design of the Roosevelt dime and Franklin half.
He didn't carve them into any. That would be considered damage.

It actually said the pattern cents of 1942 were engraved by him. I twisted that all up
