Hello I notice several foil type banknotes made of test silver or test gold foil being printed as a sort of modern novelty currency.

I was wondering if this is going to become a new sort of banknote or is designed purely as a novelty or fad.

Would it be worth it to start up a type collection of such banknotes overtime as a hobby investment ?

They make these along with colorized coins. Some people like them, most serious collectors stay away from them. Collect whatever YOU like....will it be worth it ? Only time will tell.

Such "banknotes" are almost always artistic replicas of notes, rather than actual government-issued legal-tender objects.

A "banknote" made of actual gold or silver foil intended for circulation would be a really bad idea. The notes would become easily damaged and not last long in circulation.

As novelty fantasy notes, there will be minimal collector demand for them.

they will never , ever be worth more than they are sold for, unless you can find a bigger fool to purchase them from you..

Not meant to hurt feelings here, but they aren't worth the paper or foil they are printed on..

Sorry silverwolf but I beg to differ with your value assessment statement.

I think they are worth less than the paper or foil they are printed on.
