I have come across 12 1997 JFK halves without a rim and very very week reeding, ( several have none at all ). Is this common in the 97's or have I lucked up on a treasure trove?

They may have been from a casino, coin edges tend to wear down when used in the slot machines.

If the faces of the coins look beat up, then they were slot machine halves.

Out of every 20 JFK Half Dollars I come across, about two or three have no reeding.

I was amazed at first, and then learned about the casino theory -- which I am sure accounts for it.
