I've researched coin cleaning and see so many different opinions, advice, and their experiences - some work and others having regrets. Is there a latest and greatest product that will clean without damaging the coin or show signs of cleaning? Verdi-Care has good reviews but not available.

The 1946 S Cent may not be worth cleaning but using as an example since it's not typical dirt or gunk.

100 percent Acetone and Verdi-Care are the only safe ones to use. Otherwise, please do not clean your coins.

Typo.

Those are either grease or Carbon spots which in any of those cases neither Acetone nor Verdicare would work. They are permanent
Rest in Peace

Your coin does not have dirt or crud on it . Looks more like stain spots which will be there forever . Do not attempted to clean with anything .

Cleaning a valuable coin can reduce the value as much as 90%. Removing original surfaces and turning a coin pink, pretty much reduces the coin into the circulation face value amount. Most had core collectors look for the best examples. Anything less, they pass on. Why? Why deal with a problem coin. when buying, keep in mind that someday you may want to sell that coin. So why lower the value by altering reducing the value. The original surfaces go away when they are attempted to be altered. Why ruin a coins collectable life?

Agree, only Verdi-care or acetone, neither of which will affect the staining on this coin.
