Hi everyone,
Today, in between doing everything else, I began to make inserts and package some Mexican coins. Under normal conditions I really don't collect these coins unless something really catches my eye. I loved the first series of libertad's with the "soft Angel" design. The second series, the one currently running, I'm not really excited over.
Working with Mexican coins today I came across a 1968, 25 peso Olympic commemorative. (see Photo). I remember when these were issued and had owned a few of them. They are 72% silver and their design, IMHO, is absolutely beautiful.
What is your favorite coin of Mexico..?

I too like the libertad series but must confess that I tend to favor anything large, round and silver so that would pretty much sum up my favorite coins from a great number of nations. If it is small I would prefer it be gold in color!!!

Catman, Here is a typical example of what I am talking about. I just came in with the mail and had a parcel from Canada containing an 1892 Spain 5 peseta inside! Large, silver, old and NOW mine! Chalk one up for the world crown collection. Darn I wish it had been UNC! Oh well, there is always the old up-grade!

Well Catman I just received a Mexican 1888 eight reales from another collector. the obverse is the cap and rays with Libertad and the reverse is of the Eagle STILL trying to eat that darn snake!!! Guess I have a new favorite Mexican coin but do wish it had been a higher grade. I suppose, being unfamiliar grading such coins, this would grade Fine to VF but none the less it is, as I said before, BIG, SILVER and ROUND so it most definitely welcome here!

Hey Catman- the link is a picture of a SAE. I also love the Libertads, I have one for my world silver buillion collection. Gotta agree with C64- anything large, round, and silver is OK by me! Heck, I'll take little or square too, so long as it's silver!

I checked out the online catalog at the Perth Mint site, and I had to tear myself away. Could've spent all day there, and that wouldn't have been good for the old Visa! Rachel [:p]
