Hi all, , just a little show and tell, 'cept all I can tell you is that this coin is from the Kingdom of Naples and it now has the dubious honor of being the oldest (that I have identified) coin in my collection. Can anyone shed any light on the history of this coin?

I guess I do know a LITTLE bit about it. Besides being from the Kingdom of Naples (which was an Italian State), it is a 1800 A.P. (not sure what A.P. is) 6 Tornesi minted during the 2nd reign of Ferdinando IV. 35 mm in diameter and 16.4 grams copper.

If coins could only talk......

I didn't think of it until now, but maybe I should have posted this one in the World Coin Forum.

Susan, (or any other Mod) please feel free to move this post as you see fit.

Krause 1801-1900 shows the same coin minted from 1801-1803 and a notation that "earlier dates (1799-1800) exist for this type." The initials may be the name of the assayer or the last names of two assayers. I had a similar problem with Un Sols of Peru. Many of them have assayers initials but no info about their names in the Catalog.

This darkside stuff is getting contagious.

Here is some background on Ferdinand IV.
Ferdinand IV

Page down at this link to see the monetary system under Ferdinand IV.

So far, this is the most I can find. But I'll keep looking.
